Career

He came to active politics through the Student movement of Kerala Students Union. He was elected to the Kerala Legislative Assembly consecutively from Konni Constituency in 1996, 2001, 2006 and 2011 General Elections as a candidate of Indian National Congress. He served as the Minister of Food & Civil supplies in the Oommen Chandy Ministry from 2004 to 2006.Presently he is the Revenue Minister of Kerala in the cabinet headed by Oommen Chandy.
